Why I am starting The Nonprofit MarComms Project

Over the last 15 years, I have had the good fortune to work with a variety of leaders in nonprofit marketing and communications roles across Milwaukee.

Through conversations with many of them, I have seen that people in these roles would value more opportunities to connect with others doing the same work— to share ideas, talk through common challenges, and simply get to know each other.

Connecting with people traveling along the same path has had an outsize effect on my own professional experience. My industry-based networks have connected me with job opportunities and learning resources that have transformed my life, and I wouldn’t be where I am today without them.

That’s why I am starting The Nonprofit MarComms Project– a way for marketing & communications professionals to connect with each other to share resources, ideas, and experiences.

I’m inviting anyone in a nonprofit leadership, communications, or development role to join.

The goal of the project is to increase connection, knowledge, and capacity for the Milwaukee nonprofit ecosystem. It’s a place to ask questions, share wins and inspiration, and to help others navigate the common communications challenges facing nonprofits.

We will also plan and promote in-person meet-ups in the Milwaukee area, to foster an offline community.

Every nonprofit on a growth path encounters many of the same communications challenges, and a way to connect means that you don’t have to face them alone.
